President Tinubu Receives Newly Accredited Envoys, Reaffirms Nigeria’s Commitment to Peace

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday received Letters of Credence from 17 Ambassadors and four High Commissioners, assuring the international community of Nigeria’s commitment to fostering cross-border peace and strengthening partnerships to address emerging global challenges.

Speaking at the State House Council Chamber, Tinubu urged the diplomats to work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on issues of mutual interest, emphasizing his open-door policy for constructive engagement.

“On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, I warmly welcome you and congratulate you on your appointments as the official representatives of your respective countries,” he said.

Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s strategic partnerships across the globe and reiterated the government’s focus on democratic consolidation, economic reforms, and creating an enabling environment for investment, innovation, and sustainable development.

He encouraged diplomats to deepen cooperation in areas including trade, energy, agriculture, education, technology, defense, and cultural exchange. “Nigeria is ready to work closely with your governments to promote peace, stability, and prosperity,” he added.

Representing the newly accredited envoys, Ambassador of Japan, Suzuki Hideo, described the event as historic, noting Nigeria’s central role in ECOWAS and Africa. He commended President Tinubu’s visionary leadership and economic reforms, which have strengthened Nigeria’s fiscal framework, attracted investment, and promoted inclusivity.

Hideo further praised Nigeria’s contributions to regional stability and economic prosperity, saying the country is well-positioned for global recognition.

The newly accredited ambassadors and high commissioners include:

  • Ambassadors: Suzuki Hideo (Japan), Brah Mahamat (Chad), Rodolf Lekogo (Gabon), Mehmet Poroy (Türkiye), Muhannad Alhammouri (Palestine), Felix Costales Artioda (Spain), Banbang Suharto (Indonesia), Abdoulaaye Mamadou (Mauritania), Peter Guschelbauer (Austria), Thirapath Mongkolnavin (Thailand), Anna Westerholm (Sweden), Tomas Vyprachticky (Czech Republic), John Ballout Jr. (Liberia), Martins Podostavek (Slovak Republic), Gholamreza Raja (Iran), Michal Cygan (Poland), Roberto Mengoni (Italy).
  • High Commissioners: Miah Kabir (Bangladesh), Baba Ahmod (Ghana), Abheshek Singh (India), Juliette Sutherland (Barbados, Non-Resident).

The president reaffirmed Nigeria’s dedication to strengthening diplomatic relations and fostering collaboration to address both national and global challenges.
