Punjab Sounds Red Alert After Deadly Red Fort Blast in Delhi

Punjab issued a red alert across all districts on Monday evening following the high-intensity car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station that killed eight people and injured twenty-four others. A spokesperson for the Punjab Police said Commissioners of Police and Senior Superintendents of Police had been directed to remain on high alert and intensify security measures statewide.

Police deployments were strengthened at sensitive and vulnerable locations, with additional emphasis on monitoring crowded public areas. Vehicle checks and scrutiny of suspicious individuals were increased at checkpoints throughout the state.

The blast in Delhi occurred near a parked car close to the Red Fort Metro Station during evening peak hours, igniting several nearby vehicles. The injured were transported to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital. Authorities in Delhi also issued a high alert as multiple agencies launched an investigation into the explosion.
