Chandni Chowk Market to Remain Closed on November 11 After Red Fort Blast

Chandni Chowk market will remain closed on Tuesday, November 11, following the deadly explosion near Gate No. 1 of the Lal Quila Metro Station that killed at least eight people and injured several others. The decision was announced by Sanjay Bhargaw, president of the market association, who said panic spread across the area as the blast shook buildings nearly 800 metres away.

The explosion triggered immediate high alert across Delhi. The site was cordoned off as NSG, NIA and forensic teams began their investigation. Chandni Chowk, one of the city’s busiest commercial hubs with heavy footfall during festive and wedding seasons, opted for closure as a precaution.

Thick smoke and charred vehicles were seen at the blast site shortly after the incident. Officials reported damage to several vehicles, including six cars, two e-rickshaws and an autorickshaw. Ten fire tenders responded quickly and brought the blaze under control by 7:29 p.m.

Delhi Police and forensic experts are examining vehicle remains to determine the cause of the explosion. Locals described scenes of chaos, with body parts visible on the road and confusion over what had occurred. Alerts were issued not only in Delhi but also across Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai in Maharashtra as authorities strengthened security measures following the incident.
