Reggae icon and actor James Chambers, widely known as Jimmy Cliff, has passed away.

According to a statement posted on his official social media channels, Cliff died due to “a seizure followed by pneumonia.”

“It’s with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia,” his wife wrote on Facebook.

She added:

“I am thankful for his family, friends, fellow artists, and coworkers who have shared his journey with him. To all his fans around the world, please know that your support was his strength throughout his career. He truly appreciated every fan for their love.”

She also expressed gratitude to the medical team, saying:

“I also want to thank Dr. Couceyro and the whole medical staff for their support during this difficult time. Jimmy, my darling, may you rest in peace. I will honor your wishes.”

The family requested privacy during this difficult period, noting that further information would be shared at a later date.
