Renaissance Advances Energy Security Advocacy at University of Ibadan

Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited has extended its advocacy for energy security and industrialisation to the University of Ibadan, emphasizing education, youth empowerment, and community development.

Speaking at the university’s alumni homecoming, Tony Attah, Managing Director and CEO of Renaissance, highlighted the critical link between energy security and economic growth. He stressed that addressing energy poverty and promoting sustainable use of Nigeria’s oil and gas resources are key to the country’s economic emancipation.

Delivering the Distinguished Alumni Lecture titled “Energy, Security and Economic Sustainability: The Role of Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Sector in National Development,” Attah described energy access as inseparable from economic opportunities capable of transforming millions of lives.

“Renaissance emerged out of necessity to lead Nigeria toward a central role in African development and industrialisation. Our focus is to mobilize support from both private and government stakeholders to tackle the energy poverty that has held us back for decades,” Attah said.

The event also featured the inauguration of a state-of-the-art synthetic mini football pitch, named the ‘Renaissance JV Arena’, donated by Renaissance and its joint venture partners—NNPC Limited, TotalEnergies, and Agip Energy and Natural Resources. Attah described the facility as a lasting symbol of excellence, vision, and commitment to youth and community development within the university.
