Nigerian comedian and Master of Ceremonies Sunday Onyenachiya, popularly known as Sunny Messiah, took comedy to a new level with a masterful, emotionally grounded, and hilariously witty performance before a sold-out audience at the Alliance Française de Lagos / Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Sunny Messiah’s debut stand-up special, ‘Sunny Messiah Paternity Leave,’ which was also filmed for posterity, showcased his sharp, intelligent humour delivered in his trademark articulate English. The special explored fatherhood, marriage, family chaos, and modern Nigerian adulthood, eliciting continuous laughter, knowing nods, and roaring applause from an audience that included fans, cultural influencers, media partners, and industry insiders.

Speaking on the special, Sunny Messiah said:

“Paternity Leave is my story — a story of love, stress, the joy, and the tiny madness that comes with raising a family. I wanted to bring those moments to life in a way people could relate to, no matter their background. The night also featured standout performances from rising comedic talents, including ChimeFrancis, Iykomo, Dexmond, Funny Urch, Saint Envi, and AkanLaff, complemented by a bass solo from HenryFretz and a musical performance by P’Madox. The event was seamlessly anchored by Ebuka Mic, with a surprise appearance by Senator, adding an extra highlight to the evening.
