Taylor Swift, 35, continues to shatter records with her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl. Released on Friday, October 3, the album sold an astonishing 4 million first-week units, marking Swift’s 15th No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. This achievement breaks her tie with Drake and Jay-Z for the most number-one albums among solo artists, according to Billboard.
“All the songs on this album also appear on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, taking the top 12 spots,” the publication noted, cementing Swift as the sole act with the second-most No. 1 singles in history.
Reflecting on her career growth, Swift shared a heartfelt post on Instagram: “I’ll never forget how excited I was in 2006 when my first album sold 40,000 copies in its first week. I was 16 and couldn’t even fathom that that many people would care enough about my music to invest their time and energy into it.”
The pop superstar added, “Here we are all these years later and a hundred times that many people showed up for me this week. I have 4 million thank you’s I want to send to the fans, and 4 million reasons to feel even more proud of this album than I already was.”
Swift’s 12-track project also includes special features such as vinyl variants, poems inside the packaging, and a theatrical experience titled The Official Release Party of a Showgirl. She thanked fans for embracing every element of the album, writing, “I’ll cherish this feeling forever. Just wow. Thank you for the lovely bouquet 💐,” referencing lyrics from the duet “The Life of a Showgirl” featuring Sabrina Carpenter.
The album’s success helped Swift make Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) history, as she became the first and only female artist to surpass 100 million album sales.
In addition to the album, Swift confirmed a six-part docuseries, The End of an Era, which chronicles her experience on The Eras Tour. It will begin streaming on Disney+ on December 12, 2025. On the same day, Disney+ will also release Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Final Show, a recording of her tour’s final performance featuring tracks from The Tortured Poets Department.
Swift’s milestone underscores her enduring impact on the music industry and her ability to connect deeply with fans around the world.
