Transafam Power Launches CSR Initiative for Senior Citizens in Rivers State

Transafam Power Limited, a subsidiary of Transnational Corporation Plc, has launched the inaugural edition of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme for senior citizens in its host community, Okoloma-Afam, Oyigbo Local Government Area, Rivers State.

The initiative targeted over 30 elderly residents, including 24 women and six men, providing comprehensive medical screenings, wellness education, essential food items, household provisions, and long-term health monitoring tools. Each participant received a digital blood pressure monitor, a three-month supply of multivitamins, and a curated package of food, toiletries, and bedding.

Speaking at the event, Vincent Ozoude, Managing Director/CEO of Transafam Power, highlighted that the programme underscores the company’s commitment to social responsibility and community well-being, noting:

“True progress is measured not only in megawatts but in the lives we touch. Caring for the elders who built the foundation of this community is both a privilege and a responsibility.”

The programme featured an interactive health talk led by specialist doctors from Avon Medical Practice, covering healthy ageing, hypertension management, diabetes prevention, and preventive care, followed by vital sign checks, consultations, lab investigations, and on-the-spot medication dispensing.

Community leaders and beneficiaries praised the initiative for its depth, compassion, and meticulous organization, calling it highly impactful for the elderly residents.

Transafam Power confirmed that the Elderly Wellness Day will become an annual flagship CSR event, complementing other ongoing programmes in healthcare, waste management, medical consultation, and youth empowerment, reinforcing the company’s role in sustainable community development.
