Union Bank of Nigeria has honoured outstanding members of staff at its prestigious Union Bank Employee Recognition (UBER) Awards, celebrating excellence, innovation, and customer-centric service across the organisation.
The ceremony, held at The Stable, Surulere, Lagos, brought together members of the Board of Directors, senior management, and employees, marking another milestone in the bank’s 108-year legacy of recognising excellence and dedication.
With the theme “The Constellation Edition,” the event featured three major award categories. The CEO Awards recognised Stellar Efficiency, Aurora for Most Innovative Staff, and Vega for Customer Centricity.
In addition, Performance-Based Awards were presented, including Solis for Business Deal of the Year, Galaxy for Highest Total Income, Optimus for Highest CASA Contributors (Non-Sales), and Velox for Highest Incremental CASA Average. The awards underscored Union Bank’s commitment to recognising diverse contributions that drive organisational success.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Yetunde Oni, described recognition as both a principle and a practice.
“Tonight is about recognition not as a gesture, but as a principle. Recognition affirms what we value. It reinforces standards. And it reminds us that excellence is noticed,” she said.
Mrs Oni emphasised the role of organisational culture in sustaining high performance, noting that “what we choose to celebrate is what we sustain.”
A major highlight of the evening was the premiere of Union Bank’s ‘Endless Possibilities’ thematic campaign, a powerful film celebrating the resilience, innovation, and determination of Nigerians who continue to overcome challenges and create opportunities.
The campaign reflects how this enduring spirit of perseverance has also defined Union Bank, an institution that has stood the test of time and remains an integral part of Nigeria’s social and economic fabric.
Commenting on the campaign, the Chief Brand and Marketing Officer, Olufunmilola Aluko, said the film tells a story that resonates beyond any single organisation.
“This film is a celebration of the innate resilience that defines us as a people who consistently rise above circumstances to create something meaningful. It is not unique to one institution but a shared heritage that has shaped our collective journey,” she said.
The ceremony concluded with a message of encouragement from Mrs Oni, who reaffirmed the bank’s appreciation for all staff members.
“Whether you receive an award tonight or not, know that your contribution is valued and your impact recognised. With your dedication and professionalism, Union Bank will continue to grow with confidence, credibility, and purpose,” she said.
