Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, appeared to throw a subtle shade at fellow artist Davido after his album Morayo was named Apple Music’s most streamed album of 2025 in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Morayo topped the charts ahead of Davido’s 5ive, which secured the second spot.

Prior to the release of 5ive, Davido had confidently boasted, “Album go swallow album,” a statement many interpreted as a jab at Wizkid, whose album dropped around the same period.

After Morayo clinched the top streaming spot, Wizkid seemingly responded with a playful twist on Davido’s words in a tweet:

“Dem say album go swallow album dem dey ground dey smell now!”

Fans quickly interpreted the tweet as a direct reference to Davido, reigniting speculation about the ongoing friendly rivalry between the two Afrobeats icons.

As of now, Davido has not responded publicly to Wizkid’s tweet.
