BEIJING — Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng (9868.HK) announced on Wednesday that it will collaborate with Alibaba’s (9988.HK) digital mapping platform Amap to roll out a new robotaxi service.
Earlier in the day, Xpeng revealed plans to introduce three self-developed autonomous vehicle models, with trial operations set to begin in 2026. The partnership aims to bring these driverless cars to Amap’s platform, which already features collaborations with other major players in China’s autonomous driving industry, including WeRide (WRD.O) and Pony.ai (PONY.O).
According to a joint statement, Xpeng and Amap will also work together to develop a global network of robotaxi services, though no specific timeline has been provided.
The move underscores Xpeng’s broader ambition to expand beyond electric vehicles into advanced mobility technologies, aligning with China’s growing push toward intelligent and automated transportation solutions.
