Zamfara Governor Commends Army’s Gallantry, Pledges Ongoing Collaboration

Governor Dauda Lawal has lauded the Nigerian Army for its gallantry and dedication in restoring peace and security across Zamfara State.

Speaking with journalists at the 2025 West Africa Social Activities organized by the One Brigade Command in Gusau, the state capital, Governor Lawal—represented by State Commissioner for Works, Lawal Barau—commended officers and soldiers of One Brigade operating under Operation Fansan Yamma.

The governor stated, “The Government and people of Zamfara State are deeply grateful for the sustained sacrifices and commitment of the officers and soldiers of 1 Brigade in restoring peace, security, and stability. Your gallantry and dedication do not go unnoticed.”

He further reaffirmed Zamfara State Government’s commitment to ongoing collaboration and support for the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, within available resources, in the collective pursuit of lasting peace and development.

Earlier, the Commander of One Brigade, Brigadier General Mustapha Jimoh, highlighted that terrorist and banditry activities in the state have been reduced to the barest minimum thanks to sustained military operations under Operation Fansan Yamma. He assured residents that improved security has enabled safe travel within and beyond the state.

“You can now travel from Funtua to Gusau or Gusau to Sokoto without fear,” Brig. Gen. Jimoh noted. “The level of insecurity has significantly decreased, and we will continue to work toward ending terrorist activities in Zamfara, the Northwestern states, and across the nation.”

He emphasized that the improved security situation results from strong collaboration between the military, other security agencies, and local communities.
