The First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs. Remi Tinubu, has disbursed ₦200,000 each as business recapitalization grants to 250 persons with disabilities in Abia State.

She also announced that the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association in the 36 states and the FCT will receive ₦50 million, to be distributed among beneficiaries in their respective areas.

Mrs. Tinubu made the announcement during the launch of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Economic Empowerment Programme for Persons with Disabilities, part of the RHI Social Investment Programme, delivering her address virtually to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

“The country will grow stronger when every individual is empowered to create opportunities and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s collective progress,” she said.

She noted that 9,500 persons with disabilities nationwide will benefit from the program, amounting to a total of ₦1.9 billion, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which promotes inclusive growth and shared prosperity.

Mrs. Tinubu also commended Abia State Governor Alex Otti and his wife, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, for supporting empowerment programs in the state, highlighting efforts to assist victims of flooding, communal clashes, and other disasters.

She encouraged beneficiaries to use the grants to improve their businesses and family livelihoods, emphasizing the transformative impact of such support on the lives of persons with disabilities.
