The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly gained control of five out of six states in Nigeria’s South-South region, according to Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
Keyamo’s statement came after APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda publicly welcomed Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, who is rumored to be defecting from the PDP to the APC.
“Finally, the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle in the South-South has moved into place! Officially, five of the six States of the South-South are now in APC, whilst the sixth has a leader and Minister in active, open support of Mr. President,” Keyamo posted on X.
He added that the APC’s dominance in the region marks a “position of absolute advantage and strength ahead of 2027,” contrasting it with the party’s weaker position in previous election cycles.
