Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has contrasted his tenure in office with that of the current governor, Biodun Oyebanji, saying he spent his time “fighting battles morning, afternoon, and night,” while Oyebanji is governing with comfort.
Fayose made the remarks on Monday during the commissioning of the Igbaraodo-Ikogosi road, marking Oyebanji’s third year in office. Despite their political differences—Fayose is in the PDP and Oyebanji in the APC—he commended the governor for his developmental efforts in Ekiti.
“I am only here to celebrate Ekiti with you. You have raised the bar, put everybody together, and turned this state into a state of purpose and unity, irrespective of political party,” Fayose said.
He also addressed criticism from online commentators, dismissing detractors he described as “dogs on the internet” not from Ekiti.
Fayose’s comments underscore a rare show of cross-party recognition, highlighting Oyebanji’s achievements while reflecting on the challenges he faced during his own tenure.
