Glen Powell Opens Up About Freezing “Towel Scene” and High-Stakes Stunts in The Running Man

Glen Powell is giving fans an inside look at the extreme stunts and unexpected challenges he faced while filming his upcoming action thriller, The Running Man, set to hit theaters on November 14, 2025.

Speaking at New York Comic Con 2025, Powell, 36, revealed one particularly chilly behind-the-scenes moment: filming a “towel scene” in the middle of winter in Bulgaria.

“That towel scene… Edgar asked me to do it in the summertime. We shot that in February in Bulgaria,” Powell recalled with a laugh. “We become friends really fast.”

Authentic Reactions on Dangerous Stunts

Powell also shared that some of the film’s stunts led to genuine, unscripted reactions. In one scene, he falls down the side of a building, caught off guard by a cable release slightly earlier than expected:

“If you fall even just a couple of feet down the side of a building when you’re not expecting it, it’s a little nerve-racking,” Powell said.

Other action-packed moments included explosions hitting him in the face and a fire extinguisher detonating early, which took him by surprise.

“I always try to keep myself surprised because that’s all the good stuff. You never want to be too surefooted on a set,” he explained.

On-Set Camaraderie

Beyond the stunts, Powell reflected on the friendships formed on set, particularly with costars Josh Brolin and Colman Domingo.

“There was a day with Colman and Josh where we got to kick it on The Running Man set. They’re actors I really respect immensely, and just really good, nice people,” he shared.

“Those are two guys I count as close friends now, and that was where the friendship started. So that’s a warm place in my heart.”
