Apostle Chikere Nwafor, founder of Heaven’s Gateway Ministries, has been accused of shipping her luxury vehicle from the UK to Nigeria and falsely reporting it stolen to claim a £17,000 insurance payout, according to her ex-husband, Martin Ogbulu.
Martin told SaharaReporters that he was misled about the vehicle’s disappearance, initially believing Chikere’s explanation that her cousins had borrowed it for a family event. Weeks later, he was contacted by Chikere in a panic, who explained that the car had been reported stolen to her UK insurance company.
“I told them, ‘Whatever she has told you is the truth. I have not seen any vehicle,’” Martin recalled. He said the insurance company subsequently paid Chikere close to £17,000.
Martin alleged that the car, a Lexus RX450h, was never stolen but deliberately shipped to Nigeria, providing photographic evidence showing the same vehicle in different locations. He further claimed that this was part of a recurring pattern of deceptive conduct by Chikere.
The ex-husband also referenced previous allegations against Chikere, including the controversial arrest of Alfred Morris Oyawari, a longtime church caretaker in Lagos who managed construction projects for minimal pay. Martin suggested that the cleric’s influence over authorities contributed to delays and alleged injustices in the handling of Alfred’s case.
Repeated attempts by SaharaReporters to reach Apostle Chikere for comment on the vehicle allegations were unsuccessful.
