On the birth anniversary of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, his former sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan shared a heartfelt message for Samaira and Kiaan, the children of her sister Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay.

After Karisma posted a picture of a cake reading “Happy Birthday Dad” on her Instagram story, Kareena reshared it with the touching caption, “My Samu and Kiu, dad is protecting you always and forever.” The post came amid an ongoing legal battle between the Kapoor and Kapur families over Sunjay’s will.

Earlier, Sunjay’s widow Priya Sachdev Kapur shared a tribute video including clips of Samaira and Kiaan — a gesture many called gracious, given the ongoing dispute. The children have alleged before the Delhi High Court that the will, which leaves Sunjay’s estate to Priya, was forged.

Karisma and Sunjay married in 2003 and divorced in 2016 after a public fallout. Sunjay, chairman of Sona Comstar, tragically passed away in June this year after suffering an anaphylactic shock during a polo match in London. He is survived by Priya and their son Azarius.
