Nigerian-born, U.S.-based artist Mac-Anthony Abirika, popularly known as Mactee, is back with his latest single, “Dundee Dance,” set to release on November 21. The track introduces a vibrant new sound and energetic dance, reflecting his journey of persistence, growth, and creative rebirth.
Mactee’s passion for music began in Lagos, where he grew up listening to his father’s classic records. As a teenager, he formed a three-member band, playing a key role in shaping its sound. After the group disbanded, he pursued a solo career, landing record deals and international tours, though he faced setbacks and quiet periods that tested his resolve.
Reflecting on that period, Mactee said, “I couldn’t picture myself working a 9-to-5; all I wanted was to sing, to be a legend, and to inspire people.”
His turning point came in 2020, during the pandemic, with the viral release of “Manna”, followed by singles like “Body” and the eight-track EP “Pit to Palace.” Collaborations such as “Golgotha” featuring Magnito further cemented his place in the industry.
Now, “Dundee Dance” takes his sound to a new level—upbeat, positive, and dance-driven, celebrating movement and freedom. Mactee said, “I have learned that if you keep knocking, the door will open one day.”
Beyond music, Mactee is the co-founder of Mark and Briks LLC, a growing company focused on fashion, real estate, and talent development. With “Dundee Dance” and other upcoming releases, he continues to inspire and create opportunities for others, proving that faith and determination can transform any pit into a palace.
