Marconi.NG EPC Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering world-class engineering projects at competitive costs and faster timelines, boosting Nigeria’s push to accelerate field development and attract new investments in the oil and gas sector.
During a facility tour organized by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), the company showcased its Rumuolumeni Yard, acquired from Saipem Contracting Nigeria in May 2025. The yard spans over 1 million square meters, features a 330-meter jetty, and can fabricate over 25,000 tons of heavy structures annually, making it one of the largest and most sophisticated fabrication facilities in Nigeria and West Africa.
CEO Gian Fabio Del Cioppo highlighted that Marconi’s operational strength—from legacy infrastructure to highly skilled local manpower—enables delivery of high-quality projects at globally competitive cost and schedule, supporting the Presidential Directives on Local Content and the NOGICD Act of 2010.
The facility has historically contributed to landmark projects such as Egina, Usan, Akpo, and NLNG Train 7, and recently commenced the First Steel Cutting Ceremony for subsea structures in a major offshore development.
David Editang, Nigerian Content Manager at Marconi, emphasized that the yard retains professionals with decades of experience and can now handle full fabrication, storage, and load-out operations for large offshore structures.
The NCDMB delegation, led by Obinna Ezeobi, stressed that showcasing facilities like Marconi fulfills the Board’s mandate to promote local content, capacity building, and industry awareness. The engagement also strengthens media reporting on Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
With Marconi’s investments and NCDMB support, Nigeria is better positioned to expand local capacity, reduce capital flight, and boost investor confidence across the oil and gas value chain.
