One Killed as Suspected Terrorists Attack Yobe Community

Suspected ISWAP terrorists have attacked Madiya village in Gujba Local Government Area, Yobe State, killing one person and destroying property, according to local sources.

The incident reportedly occurred on December 2, 2025, at around 11:50 p.m., when the assailants stormed the residence of Umar Jalam, 50, shooting him in the chest before setting his house on fire.

The attackers also burnt a provision store and rustled nine cows and one tricycle belonging to villagers. Umar Jalam was later certified dead at the General Hospital in Buni-Yadi.

Troops, working alongside vigilante groups and local hunters, reportedly visited the scene and have intensified efforts to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen property.

This attack highlights the continuing threat posed by insurgent groups in northeastern Nigeria, despite ongoing counterinsurgency efforts.
