Rep Donates Office Equipment to Security Agencies in Ibadan

A member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Abass Agboworin, has donated office equipment to various security agencies in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, to boost their efficiency and strengthen security operations.

Agboworin, who represents Ibadan South-East/North-East Federal Constituency, said the initiative was aimed at supporting the state government’s efforts to maintain peace and protect lives and property.

The donated items include refrigerators, generators, printers, water dispensers, industrial fans, and stationery.

Speaking during the presentation, the lawmaker said his visits to security formations revealed a lack of basic tools necessary for effective service delivery.

“I observed the absence of essential office equipment hampering their work. Providing these items is my way of bridging that gap,” he said.
“Security agencies do a massive job protecting our lives. Imagine what would happen if the police went on strike for just a week.”

He stressed that security should be a shared responsibility between government and citizens, not the government alone.

Responding, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Femi Aruna, represented by the Officer-in-Charge of Operations, Mr. Uche Ekannem, commended Agboworin for the gesture, assuring that the police and other agencies would continue prioritising public safety.

Also speaking, the Executive Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Mr. Sunday Odukoya, said the initiative aligned with the state government’s vision for enhanced security collaboration.

Beneficiaries of the donation include the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Operation Burst, and the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun).
