Taylor Swift Responds to Critics Who Say She Should ‘Just Go Away’: “I Don’t Want To”

Pop superstar Taylor Swift is addressing her critics head-on. On December 10, 2025, Swift appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to discuss her upcoming Disney+ docuseries, The End of an Era, and responded to those who say there’s “too much of her” in the public eye.

During the wide-ranging interview, Swift, 35, reflected on career longevity, her relationship with fiancé Travis Kelce, and her hard-won music catalog, including her masters. She also directly confronted critics who wish she would “just go away.”

“There are corners that are like, ‘Give someone else a turn. Can’t you just go away so we can talk about how good you were?’ And I’m like, I don’t want to, you know?” Swift explained, emphasizing her commitment to her art and fans.

Revisiting the Eras Tour

Swift has released or re-released at least one album each year since 2019, and her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, debuted in October 2025. She also concluded her record-breaking Eras Tour in 2024, a tour she revisits in her six-part docuseries The End of an Era, premiering on Disney+ with the first two episodes on December 12, 2025.

During her Late Show appearance, Swift shared insights about why the Eras Tour felt uniquely special.

“I didn’t realize it was gonna be this until you started hearing about people’s experiences at the show,” she said. “My whole life I’ve been trying to study how do you not just entertain people, but really transport them out of their problems, their life, their stresses? How do you create a sense of escape?”

Swift described the tour’s impact on fans as extraordinary, recounting articles where medical professionals jokingly reported post-concert amnesia and ‘joy blackouts’ among attendees. She said this was a clear sign the tour created something different than any of her previous performances.

“The entire tour, there were these just sort of out-of-control, out-of-body experiences we would have onstage,” she added.

The End of an Era Docuseries and Final Concert Film

Alongside the docuseries, Swift is releasing Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Final Show on Disney+, a live recording of her final Eras Tour performance on December 8, 2024, at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada. The concert film captures the full The Tortured Poets Department set, giving fans an immersive experience of the tour’s epic finale.

With her appearances on The Late Show, the release of her docuseries, and the concert film, Swift continues to show her dedication to her fans, her music, and her artistic vision—regardless of what critics say.
